How to Organize your Home for the California
Home Inspection
|
| Don’t be mistaken;
even though California seems to have “home friendly”
weather, it doesn’t mean that California
home inspections will be quicker or less detailed than
any other home inspection. It can take longer depending
on the condition of the home i.e. if areas being inspected
are hard to get to, inaccessible or not visible. In order
for your home inspection to be as quick and simple as
possible be sure to follow these tips before the home
inspector arrives:
-Make sure the inspector can get into the house. This
means leaving a key in a place the inspector will be able
to find it, or having the realtor
or the owner be there.
-Ensure easy access to all areas of the property.
-Ensure all power is switched on (including electricity,
water, gas), and the pilot and security lights are switched
on. This is required to test appliances and the systems
(i.e. plumbing and electrical) in the home.
-Do not allow pets to be running around, keep them out
of the way of the inspector.
-It will save time and create a more honest report if
the inspector is told about any faults or specific condition
defects of the home before he starts the inspection.
-Although you don’t have to be in the shadow of
the inspector during the inspection, still make sure you
are close by so you are available for questions or to
help the inspector gain access to certain areas.
Every home inspector is the same regardless of the city
or state the home
is based in. It will definitely take time to inspect a
home. Whether or not the home owner is prepared for the
home inspection will affect the amount of time the inspection
will take. If you want your California home inspection
to run as smoothly and quickly as possible, properly prepare
your home for inspection.
