There is a lot of apprehension involved in buying a home, especially if you are a first time buyer. There also seems to be a lot of confusion of who a real estate agent is and their purpose.
Before the Internet was popular and mainstream everyone found homes for sale by looking through the newspaper. There is this story about a woman who was out of work on maternity leave. During the day she was looking through the newspaper’s real estate section and found a house that seemed great.
When her husband returned from work she told him to call the number. She warned him though that the real estate agent was going to try and make an appointment with them.
The husband reluctantly called and found out the address of the home. The agent of course wanted to meet them.
The husband, remembering his wife’s warning, was unwilling to meet with the agent. The agent gave them the address and the couple looked at the outside of the home. Without the agent they could not look at the interior.
It wasn’t until two years later that the couple bought their first home.
Now that same woman is a real estate agent herself and realizes that she was scared of the real estate agent for no reason. They are not a sales person. They are there to help you find the best property for you, your financial stability and make the whole process much easier.
