Coronado Life…
Coronado is a beautiful, historical and well-known area in San Diego. Coronado is one of San Diego’s most upscale communities. Coronado is a peninsula that lies across the bay from downtown, and is connected by a bridge to the city. The real estate here is often called some of the best in the area. The geography of Coronado means that many homes are near to the beach, and planners ensured that most have wide, open yards and individual architecture.
One of the most famous architectural sites is The Hotel Del Coronado, which is known all over the world for its design and historical prominence. The Hotel del Coronado is known locally as “the Del” and is one of San Diego’s most recognizable landmarks, with its red roofs and turrets. Among other dignitaries, it has hosted thirteen Presidents, and tourists and locals alike will visit the hotel just to have dinner or drinks and look for the rich famous and beautiful.
An additional asset to the city, Coronado’s shopping district is the best in the city. The main street in Coronado, Orange Avenue, is full of upscale boutiques and fun beach stores. In addition, there are tons of ice cream shops to suit the hot sun and the fun-loving atmosphere that surrounds the city. Apart from Orange Avenue, the Ferry Landing Marketplace is a great place to go to shop and eat.
Another fun thing about Coronado is that millions of tourists come through the peninsula every year, and residents are careful to ensure that the area remains, above all, a residential area. The shops in Coronado are unique, and there are several boutiques as well. Very few shops or restaurants are part of a chain. The restaurants are not all for fine dining and dessert; there are family restaurants that are popular with locals and have been here for generations.
One huge draw to Coronado real estate is the glorious beach, which is wider than beaches on the shores of San Diego. That means more room to play with the family, and on major summer holidays, you will find it packed with San Diegans and travelers. Due to its massive diversity, people tend to be very friendly and share their cultural knowledge and customs with locals.
This makes it a great place to buy real estate. It is a good place to raise kids or to have a vacation home. The median sales price of a home in Coronado as of December 2010 was $1,006,300 (not far off from February 2006 when it was $1,215,357). In this affluent community, homes sell for much more here if they are beachfront property, and homes are for sale further inland. Wherever you decide to purchase a home, there is no way to be disappointed in the beautiful beach community.
